What’s your philosophy when it comes to staying fit and healthy: Keep it simple & fun!

Great piece of advice you’ve ever been given: Love the life you have because your life is someone else’s dream.

One thing no one knows about you: I used to weigh 140 kgs.

Favourite food: Seafood.

Guilty pleasure/s: Watching reality TV shows and the occasional glass of red wine.

Favourite time of the day to workout + why: Mornings! Because it puts me in a good mood for the rest of the day.

One piece of advice you’d like to share with everyone: Don't change yourself because you’re afraid of what people think. Change yourself because you want to be better.

Name: Tahnee Donkin

Occupation: Regional Fitness Director

Favourite quote: Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.

Favourite way to workout: Strength training and adrenaline based activities.

What’s your philosophy when it comes to staying fit and healthy: Health & fitness should be simple; move your body, nourish your body and let your body recover. Being fit and healthy isn’t just about looking after your body inside and out, it’s also about your mind. Your body is a direct reflection of your choices. If you want to change your body, you need to make different choices regarding your lifestyle, training and nutrition. Fitness should be fun! Find something that excites you and you look forward to. I believe that you should finish each workout with a smile on your face. I also believe in nourishing your body with good quality fresh foods (not food like products), and keep your mind and body in balance by taking some time out each week just for you, no matter how crazy your schedule might be. It may sound cliché, but I also believe in everything in moderation. I keep active so that I can still enjoy the occasional espresso martini.

Great piece of advice you’ve ever been given: Don’t sweat the small stuff. Will the things you’re stressing about today really matter in 5 years?

One thing no one knows about you: I’m a classic over-sharer so there’s not a lot that no one knows about me. Most people don’t know that I’m vegetarian, I’m trained in aerials (clearly I had aspirations of joining the circus), I’m scared of clowns (the real reason I haven’t joined the circus) and am a professional dancer.

Favourite food: Nutella.

Guilty pleasure: Espresso martinis.

Favourite time of the day to workout + why: Afternoons, because I use exercise to unwind after a long day and it helps me sleep better (also I’m not organised enough to bring a towel, make-up and change of clothes to the gym each day).

One piece of advice you’d like to share with everyone: Get out of your own damn way! Most of the time, the real thing that’s stopping us from achieving our goals is ourselves.
