I started teaching BodyPump 17 years ago in Brisbane with Karen Russell as my trainer and it was my second Les Mills Program at the time. I have taught a minimum of 3 BodyPump classes per week for 17 years – that’s over 2652 BodyPump classes not including workshops and training weekends!

BodyPump is a barbell workout for anyone looking to get lean, toned and fit – fast. Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, it gives you a total body workout. Instructors will coach you through the moves and techniques pumping out encouragement, motivation and great music – helping you achieve much more than on your own! You’ll leave the class feeling challenged and motivated, ready to come back for more.
I love the strong feeling you get when you are doing the class and the muscle burn afterwards. The rewarding feeling of seeing my members push themselves hard and the success when they finish the class is awesome.
I have achieved all of my muscle tone from BodyPump as I rarely get a chance to lift weights. A BodyPump class is a full-body barbell workout, that will burn calories, shape and tone your entire body, increase core strength and improve bone health. BodyPump is based on the ‘rep effect’, a proven formula that exhausts muscles using light weights, while performing high repetitions – this is the secret to developing lean, athletic muscle.
Absolutely. They would need to start on very light weights and increase steadily. We also offer a thing called “Smart Start” with BODYPUMP which is where a new participant can do just the first 4 tracks and leave after that and increase a track every week until they are able to do the entire class
Two to three times per week is ideal.
The instructor will guide you as to what weight to lift every track. They will know the movements and the difficulty of the track to advise the correct weight to lift.
BodyPump is a strong, fun and rewarding class and does not require a whole heap of coordination. Simple movement patterns and exercises for the entire body without adding bulky muscles focusing on getting lean and increasing strength. Anyone at any fitness level or experience can do the class.
