How To Maintain Motivation In Winter

When winter rolls around, so too does the desire to sleep in, snack and avoid working out! But if you’re on a mission to maintain your fitness during the cooler months, here are our top tips on how you can maintain your motivation in winter!

Set a goal

Having a goal in mind will help you hold yourself accountable. It could be as small and as simple as committing to 3 consistent workouts a week or as big as completing a half marathon. No matter what your goal is, just make sure it’s a SMART one! Specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely!

Get an accountability buddy

Whether it’s someone you know from the gym or a friend you can meet up with for a run, having the accountability of someone else to workout with will stop you from pressing snooze when your alarm goes off in the morning and falling off the bandwagon. Bonus points if you tell them your goal… you can help hold each other accountable to them!

Get prepped the night before

Laying out your activewear or packing your gym bag the night before will allow you to savour an extra few minutes of sleep in the morning or stop you from getting to the gym after work and realising you left one shoe at home. A little bit of preparation goes a long way!

Get organised

Preparation is the key to success! So if you frequently find yourself curling up underneath a blanket after work and ordering uber eats, why not try getting pre-planning by doing a big meal prep cook up on Sunday? That way, all you have to do is pop a quick and healthy dinner into the microwave.

Be kind to yourself

Above all else, remember you’re only human and we all have those inevitable off days when you’re going to miss a workout. Just remember, that one missed workout or one unhealthy meal won’t derail all of your progress, so just pick up where you left off!
