5 Must Haves For Your Gym Bag

When it comes to fitness, a little bit of preparation goes a long way. Whether you prefer to workout in the AM or PM, we’ve rounded up 5 must have items for your gym bag that will help keep you ready and raring to workout.

1. A high-protein snack

Fueling your body post workout is an important piece of the fitness puzzle, and the ideal eating window is within 45 minutes post workout. To avoid getting stuck hungry and snackless, pack a few non-perishable high protein snacks in your gym bag. Opt for things like low sugar protein bars, raw unsalted nuts, roasted chickpeas or a good quality protein powder.

2. A towel

In the last 12 months we’ve implemented additional health and hygiene standards in our clubs, to ensure all of our members can train with the utmost confidence. This includes a no towel no train policy. To avoid the frustration of having to head home and pick one up, remember to keep one in your gym bag at all times. Towels can also be purchased at reception.

3. Headphones

There’s nothing quite as unmotivating as arriving at the gym without your headphones. There are a whole host of benefits music has on physical performance (not to mention motivation) so be sure to pop a spare pair in your bag, as this can often make the difference between a good workout and a not so good workout.

4. A BPA-free water bottle

Whether you prefer to sip on water, pre-workout or BCAAs, staying hydrated is of paramount importance everytime you hit the gym. As a general rule of thumb, aim for 2L per day and include an additional 600mls for every half hour of exercise. Not only will it help you stay hydrated, but it will also save you from continually interrupting your workout by walking to and from the bubblers.

5. Deodorant

The tell tale sign of a good workout is a sweaty stench. While you should absolutely wear that perspiration with pride, a little freshen up with deodorant before you leave will keep you feeling fresh.
