5 Morning Habits to Kickstart Your Day

If you’ve always wanted to be a morning person but don’t know where or how to start, we’ve got just the thing to help. We’ve compiled a list of 6 morning habits to help you kickstart your day.

1. Switch up your alarm tone

Changing your alarm to a more melodic tone is one of the easiest ways to hack your morning routine and help you kickstart your day the right way. Some scientists have even concluded that certain alarm noises can increase your energy levels and ward off grogginess.

2. Establish a consistent wake time

There are a number of benefits that come from waking up at a consistent time each day. Not only will this help your body establish its natural circadian rhythm (you may eventually find you no longer need an alarm), but you'll likely find it will also give you a brighter mood, a stronger immune system and an improved quality of sleep.

3. Make your bed

While a seemingly small gesture, the simple act of making your bed can actually have a big impact on your day. Making your bed in the morning gives you an instant win and sense of accomplishment, that will propel your mindset to continue to strive for more wins throughout the day. It’s no coincidence that Arianna Huffington, Jeff Bezoz and Bill Gates all swear by this simple morning habit.

4. Move your body

Whether it’s a walk, some stretching or a spin class, there are an abundance of benefits that ensue a morning workout. From increasing your energy levels naturally (i.e. without the help of caffeine), and improving sleep right through to helping you make smarter food choices throughout the day, moving your body in the morning will give you the healthy kick start you need.

5. Write a to-do list

Setting aside just 5-minutes to write a daily to-do list in the morning can end up saving you hours in the long run. Getting clear on your tasks and goals for the day ahead before you’ve been overloaded with information will help you get organised, prioritise tasks accordingly and stay focused.
